Fourth Grade

The Fourth grade curriculum is rich with educational experiences that encourage our students to become problem
solvers, decision makers, communicators, and independent learners.  Our curriculum allows students to be creative,
extend their thinking, and make connections to the real world. Our instructional methods and resources  used in core
subjects vary to meet the educational needs of all students.  In addition, the students receive instruction in music, art,
guidance physical education, and library/media.  Throughout the year students enjoy a variety of special events and
field trips that enhance their curriculum.

Fourth grade students will be given various daily homework assignments. Also, there are occasional projects and
tests to study for in all content areas. Most daily work is completed in class through time allowed in the class and end
of the day study period. However, students will have to complete any unfinished work at home. An average student
who is not behind in work should expect to do 30-40 minutes of homework on the average

What’s Happening in Fourth Grade

During the month of December, students in all the fourth grade classes were involved in a food  drive to benefit The
Lakeland Food Pantry. In total, the students collected over 680 pounds of non-perishable items to benefit the families
in their community.  We are very proud of all the students’ efforts and know that many families benefited from this project.
