Welcome to the Minocqua J1 School District!
Many school districts stake the claim to be the school of choice, but here at Minocqua J1 we will prove that we are the school of choice. Minocqua J1 is a progressive K-8 School District located in the beautiful north woods of Wisconsin. Our school district is often referred to as MHLT Elementary. MHLT stands for: Minocqua, Hazelhurst, Lake Tomahawk. Our district encompasses almost 350 square miles. The school is located about an hour north of Wausau in the township of Minocqua just off of Highway 51. We are one of four K-8 Schools that feeds into Lakeland Union High School.
Our school has approximately 625 students and 75 staff. We have set high standards for our students to maintain. We take great pride in our high test scores and our commitment to providing the best education possible for each and every student.
Over two-thirds of our teaching staff has their Master’s Degree and most, if not all, continue to further their education by attending conferences/clinics to stay abreast of the current trends in education. We offer a wide variety of educational and co-curricular programming for our students. When students graduate from Minocqua J1, they’re well prepared for high school and the challenges that lie ahead.
