OPEN ENROLLMENT for Students Living Outside the Minocqua J1 School District

Parents have the right to request their children attend a different public school district other than where they reside through the Wisconsin Open Enrollment Program. State Law required open enrollment students to apply for open enrollment when wishing to attend another school district. The Open Enrollment Program allows students outside the Minocqua J1 School District to enroll in our schools without paying tuition. 

The recommended method of applying for open enrollment is through the on-line application process at: Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The regular open enrollment application period for the 2025-26 school year begins on February 3, 2025, and ends at 4:00 pm on April 30, 2025.  

If you apply after this, you are required to use the: Alternative Open Enrollment Application

Open Enrollment During the School Year: If you move out of the district during the school year on or after September 16, 2023 you are required to fill out a tuition waiver instead of the Open Enrollment Alternative Application. If you move into the district during the school year, and were not at MHLT before September 16th, you are required to fill out the Alternative Open Enrollment Application.
